Steelers do what they do best in draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the model of consistency in the NFL. When you have six Super Bowl titles, there is no need to tinker with a successful strategy. This year’s draft was no different. The Steelers used their selections to add needed depth to a team that is getting long in the tooth at certain positions. The Steelers were able to take advantage when players dropped down right into their hands. Their first two selections should help bolster their offensive line. First round pick David DeCastro was thought to be the best guard in the draft and their second...

There are teams that want Mike Wallace but will the Steelers trade him?

As we approach the NFL draft, fans are wondering if this will be the time that the Steelers trade Mike Wallace. Wallace is a restricted free agent and is determined to get a big deal now. He is so determined that there is talk that he won’t sign the tender offer. That intention to be difficult could be the final straw for the Steelers. There are teams that would take Wallace in a heartbeat, but would the Steelers be willing to move him? We won’t know until and unless a great offer comes along. This past week, the Steelers...

Fans want to know what the deal is with the Mike Wallace situation

March 24, 2012
By

Any Pittsburgh Steeler fan knows that their team is known for making very few big moves in the offseason. The Steelers have always operated that way and that strategy has been very successful for them. But their dealings with restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace have left many scratching their heads in amazement. It’s no secret that Wallace is one of the NFL’s emerging young talents. After only three seasons, Wallace has drawn comparisons to the great Steeler wideouts of the past like John Stallworth, Lynn Swann and Hines Ward. Stallworth and Swann are already in the Pro...

Steelers Coaching Staff Raided By The Colts

January 31, 2012
By

The Indianapolis Colts must really like the Pittsburgh Steelers. They just made two moves that may make the Colts look and play more like the Steelers. The first move was to hire former Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians to take the same position with the Colts. The second move was to hire the Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler as their new defensive coordinator. Both of these moves could send shockwaves through the AFC. It is widely believed that the Colts are going to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Luck may...

Steelers Lose Heartbreaker To Broncos

January 8, 2012
By

The Pittsburgh Steelers became the latest team to succumb to the legend of Tim Tebow. After battling back the entire game, the Steelers fell in overtime 29-23. The final blow was on the first play of the overtime period. Tebow hit Demaryius Thomas for an 80-yard touchdown pass that left the Steelers speechless. It was just the last dagger to the heart for the Steelers. They came into the game with QB Ben Roethlisberger still hobbled by an ankle injury. Already missing Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey, they lost NT Casey Hampton to a knee injury. Then they lost...

Steelers Win The Battle But Lose The War

On a day that saw the weather change dramatically, the Pittsburgh Steelers literally limped into the playoffs. Despite winning an ugly game against the Cleveland Browns, they suffered 2 key setbacks. The first was the loss of a first round bye. The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cincinnati Bengals and wrapped up the #2 seed in the AFC. Given the injuries that they already had, they really needed the extra week off. Then the bottom fell out from under them. Running back Rashard Mendenhall suffered a knee injury that is being described as a possible ACL tear. If this is...

Steelers Lineup Against Longtime Rivals

December 31, 2011
By

The Pittsburgh Steelers look to finish the regular season strong as they travel to Cleveland to face their longtime rivals, the Cleveland Browns. The Steelers, already in the playoffs, could be playing for a first round bye. The Cleveland Browns, having another terrible season, are just playing for respect at this point. The Steelers have a lot of injuries at key positions and could rest some starters in anticipation of the playoffs. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (high ankle sprain) is listed as probable, and is expected to play. He could rest, given the great performance turned in by backup Charlie...

Win in Primetime

November 28, 2011

A broken thumb couldn’t stop Ben Roethlisberger as he led the Steelers to a hard fought win over the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. With this win, the Steelers are tied atop the AFC North with the Ravens, and hopefully will be able to make a push for a division title in the weeks to come. In a game that did not feature too much offense, the Steelers were only able to generate 290 yards of total offense, with 182 through the air and 108 on the ground. However, the scariest moment of the game for Steelers fans had...

Bye Week

November 21, 2011
By

In a bye week, the Steelers had to be rather pleased to see Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton fall apart yet again in the 4th quarter. Despite Dalton impressing throughout the season for being a rookie quarterback, his composure and ability in the 4th quarter when the pressure is on has led to key interceptions that may force the Bengals into missing the playoffs. While it was probably a bit optimistic (and a good thing it didn’t happen for the Steelers!) to imagine the Bengals going to M&T Bank Stadium and getting a W from the Ravens, the game was...

Victory over Cincy

November 14, 2011

The game got off to a great start for the Steelers, with the offense putting up 14 points in the first quarter. However, a late game debacle almost occurred again, but this time the defense came through and was able to force quarterback Andy Dalton to throw a bad interception on the Bengals final drive to seal a great win for the Steelers. This victory over a new division rival in contrast to recent years gives them a leg up on the Bengals come time for the Wild Card race, which is probably what the Steelers will be competing...

Dissapointing…

November 7, 2011
By

Will the Steelers even make the playoffs? That has to be the question on many fans minds right now, after a disheartening and terrible loss to the Ravens; this time in Pittsburgh. While the Steelers did manage to fight back and have the lead deep into the 4th quarter, the vaunted defenses of old clearly were much better than this year’s edition because yet again, they let up a big drive to the rather incompetent Joe Flacco who completed a 22 yard pass to Torrey Smith to allow the Ravens to come from behind and steal the game. With...
